Outdoor Gift Guide for the Whole Family

This guide has been thoughtfully crafted by a mom of three boys, a summer camp director, an enthusiastic hiker and paddler, and someone committed to purchasing less. I always carefully consider the gifts I choose for my children or others. I hope this will be helpful.

Backyard Tree Swing
We have had this a few years now, and my kids still love this! We will be bringing ours indoor this winter and hanging in our playroom.
Kids Binoculars
These binoculars were gifted to us during our time in Costa Rica, and they make an excellent first pair for binoculars for children. They offer good value for money and earn extra points for their durability and fun colors.
Whitling Knife
This small knife is great quality and perfect for little hands. I especially like the safety guard to help from a kids hand slipping onto the blade.
Yoto Player - Mini
I cannot rave enough about the Yoto Player. It is such a wonderful screen free way for kids to listen to their favorite stories, podcasts and music.
We started with the larger size, but with the amount my kids use them we switched to the minis which I like more. Great for ages 3-12+.
Paracord (Survival) Bracelet Kit
As a camp director, I cannot NOT share this. Paracord bracelets are such a hit at camp. This kit comes in a few different color combinations. Boys and girls a like love it! I would recommend for 2nd grade and above.
Camelback Insulated Water Bottle
A perfect gift for the bug enthusiasts. This will be in my boys stockings this year. I always think that water bottles ALWAYS make good and useful gifts for all ages.
2 Pack Magnifying Glasses
These are the ones we use at camp. Would be a great stocking stuffer for any bug enthusiast. Pair it with an identification book on bugs for a larger gift.
National Geographic KIDS books
I couldn't decide which of these series of books to feature, as my kids have LOVED every one we have gotten or borrowed from the library.
Pair this book with a furry little stuffy friend for a win for any animal lover.
Disc Swing
This is a family favorite. Everyone loves to pile on this swing. Even my 96 year old grandma has laid on it. What I love about this model is that it can hold up to 700lbs.

Kids Bike Lock
This is a great, small lock for young riders. My boys (ages 5 & 6) can both easily use this. Plus, it is super easy to change the combination.
Kids Black Diamond Headlamp
These have lasted us almost 2 years, which says a lot with my wild boys. Easy to turn on and off, durable, you can tilt the light and the best part is it powers itself off after 2 hours.

Gift a fellow hiker or camper, the gift of GOOD coffee outdoors. This is our favorite way to make coffee while camping. We even love to use it at home for a quick GOOD cup of coffee.
