Hi! My name is Summer. I am a mother to three energetic, outdoor-loving boys. During the school year, I stay at home with my kids. During the summer, I am the Director of Camp Wingra, an outdoor day camp that focuses on individualized outdoor learning, fishing, and paddling. Before that, I was the coordinator for the REI Outdoor School in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.

My second child was born right before the pandemic, and having two kids under two during the pandemic, I soon found that getting outdoors was not only the best to entertain my boys but also the best thing for my mental health.

The idea of 30 Minutes Outside was developed as the waitlist for my summer camps continued to grow. Unfortunately, adding more spots wasn't something I could do. But, maybe I thought, I could create a place where parents could get the tools, ideas, and activities to explore the outdoors with their children. Kind of like an easy summer camp, all year round.
